"Kona Haunted Hele"

Step into the spooky past and supernatural happenings of Kona on this evening walking tour. After the sun dips down, follow an expert local guide as you explore eerie tales of hauntings and real-life historical events that are sure to send chills down your spine.

Meet up with your guide and set out on foot down the historic Ali'i Drive, beginning your excursion with a prayer of protection, a statement of intention, and a brief overview of Kona's fascinating, mystery-filled history. From there, make your way to various locations where supernatural events are believed to have occurred, from the historic location of human sacrifices to the path where the ghostly, torch-wielding Night Marchers are believed to walk.

Pass by the one-time royal summer palace of Hawaii's kings and queens, see the first Christian church in the islands, and roam among the tombstones in two cemeteries. Hear about the history of the old Kona Inn, built on the site of an ancient temple known to have more than 40 totem-style ki'i statues.

At each location, put specialized paranormal activity detection equipment to the test as you try to seek out the energy of spiritual beings, and wrap up your haunted foray with a cleansing white sage smudge. Personal TAROT card readings available at the conclusion of each tour.

"Captain Cooked"

Captain Cook Ghost Tour
Meet up for an early morning hike down to Cook's Monument and attempt to make contact with the spirit of Captain James Cook, who was violently murdered on the shore overlooking Kealakekua Bay, known as the pathway of the gods. An "X" marks the spot where he was killed as well as another partially submerged marker indicating the approximate location. Great exercise and conversation to start your day and upon arrival at the monument take part in a paranormal investigation using a Spirit Box, Tri-Field Meter and other sensitive instruments at one of the island's most notorious and historical locations!

Humble beginnings to national hero, Captain James Cook is considered one of history's best known and most controversial explorers. Cook's achievements in mapping the Pacific, New Zealand and Australia utterly changed our understanding of geography and proved him in the words of a contemporary, “the most able and enlightened navigator that England ever produced.” His use of surveying techniques, astronomy and timekeepers along with an insistence on good diet for his crew was radical and exemplary.

The people at that time thought Cook to be the god Lono upon his first arrival, which coincided with the Makahiki festival. Cook seemed to play along with the pretence but he and his crew seemed to wear out their welcome before deciding to continue exploring the Pacific, however Cook was forced to return just four days later because the
Resolution needed emergency repairs to her mast. While docked for repairs, a small rowboat was stolen and when Cook tried to take chief Kalani‘ōpu‘u hostage in retaliation, the islanders became defensive and Cook was stoned, clubbed, stabbed and killed on February 14, 1779. After his death, the Hawaiians ritualistically prepared his corpse as they would that of a chief or royal member, meaning they preserved his hands in sea salt, then roasted the rest of his body in a pit before cleaning his bones of all the flesh. According to historians, Cook's complete skeleton has never been fully recovered and laid to rest, although a traditional burial at sea did occur, meaning his spirit may still have unfinished business...

$65 Adults (17 and up) $55 Youth (12-16) (Children 11 & under free!)
Tour Days:  Sundays & Mondays.  Tour time is approximately 4 hours. **A considerate amount of hiking is required!**  The trail leading to the monument is approximately 1.8 miles each way, with a 1,300-foot elevation change. The downhill hike to the monument is relatively easy, but the uphill hike back to your parking spot is considerably more challenging, so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Tour begins at 9AM (before it gets too hot). We must have a minimum of two (2) total guests to run the tour.

"Hilo After Dark"
(coming soon)

Picture
Hilo days might be warm, but when the sun goes down and there's a chill in the air, it's easy to imagine eerie happenings among the quiet beaches and rustling palms. Investigate sites of paranormal occurrences with a local guide, scoping out haunted hotels and historic sites as you hear tales of spooky sightings.

Begin your outing with a prayer of protection and a statement of intention, and listen as your guide provides a brief history of Hilo. Hear about supernatural activity in the islands as you begin your tour in the Happiness Gardens, where ghostly sightings have occurred in the past, and then make your way to Queen Liliuokalani Gardens & Coconut Island, following the route of the legendary Night Marchers.

Pass by the massive, tangled trees that line Banyan Drive, planted long ago by visiting celebrities like Babe Ruth, and wind up near the site of an ancient Hawaiian graveyard. At each spine-tingling location along the way, pull out specialized paranormal activity detection equipment and see if you can detect any unusual spiritual presences. Your experience concludes with a cleansing white sage ritual before your guide sends you on your way. Personal TAROT card readings available at the conclusion of each tour.
